Norway: New Minimum Salary for Residence Permit Holders

Overview  

The government of Norway increased the country’s minimum salary requirements for residence permits granted for work purposes. As a result, the following salary requirements now apply:

• Employees who require a master’s degree require payment of at least NOK 480,900 per tax year.
• Employees who require a bachelor’s degree require payment of at least NOK 448,900 per tax year.
• Applicants of both pathways may receive a lower salary if they can document that this is normal for the occupation where they are to work. 
• An applicant must be paid the joint wage rate if they work in an industry where a collective agreement applies.
