Overview
The Slovak government announced that its Border and Foreign Police office will restrict its operating hours beginning 11 September 2023 to 30 September 2023. The government will only process the following applications:
- Students who entered the first year of high school or university who already have an appointment reservation booked with the office;
- Applications for national visas who already have an appointment reservation booked with the office;
- Applicants for temporary asylum.
All other appointment types and applications for residence or residence renewal will be postponed until the office reopens. The government will automatically re-order any previously booked applications under this category.
What are the Changes?
The government of Slovak will temporarily close its immigration and police office until 30 September 2023, which will result in work and residence permit processing delays. According to the government, the office will use this time to address illegal immigration into the country.
