  • Belgium intends to unify its EU Blue Card policy throughout its three regional jurisdictions

Unified EU Blue Card Measures

On 22 March 2024, the government of Belgium introduced measures to implement a unified EU Blue Card policy for all three regional jurisdictions in the country. Under the unified measures, EU Blue Card holders from another member state of the EU will be permitted a maximum stay of at least 12 months. These individuals must apply for a Belgian EU Blue Card work permit within one month of arrival.

These measures will be adopted in Flanders beginning 1 May 2024 and 1 October 2024 for Brussels.  The dates for the Walloon region and federal level are pending.
