Lithuania: Updates for Ukrainian Nationals
Key Points
- Lithuania introduced new measures for Ukrainian nationals currently holding temporary protection status
Overview
The government of Lithuania announced that effective 1 September 2024, Ukrainians in Lithuania who are not temporary protection beneficiaries will need a residence permit to work. Those who cannot return to Ukraine but lack temporary protection can work without a permit. This includes certain visa-exempt Ukrainians and those with Schengen or national visas.
From 1 September 2024, Ukrainians applying for residence permits for work or humanitarian reasons will only be able to work after receiving the permit, except for highly qualified workers, who can work from the application date.
