Key Points
- Wallonia officials expanded the shortage occupation list to include 73 professions
Overview
Effective 1 October 2024, Wallonia’s shortage occupation list has expanded to 73 professions, up from 68. The new roles added include buyer, driving instructor, social worker, automotive technician, chef/cook and building manager. Additionally, some previously general titles have been specified, such as certain truck driver and technician positions.
The following jobs were removed from the list: butcher, baker, sales manager, plasterer, meat cutter, boilermaker, refrigeration technician, civil engineering mechanic, medical imaging technologist and customs declarant.
This updated list will remain in effect until 30 September 2025. Occupations on the list are exempt from labor market testing. Applications submitted before 1 October 2024, based on the old list, will still qualify for the labor market testing exemption.
