Chile Updates its National Identification Cards  

Chile launches its new National Identification System on 16 December 2024, introducing digital identity cards and passports. These modern documents both feature Braille for visual disabilities. 

Current IDs and passports remain valid until expiration, so renewal isn’t mandatory if up to date. Prices stay the same: 

  • Identity card: $3,820 pesos (US$3.90) 
  • Passport: $69,660 pesos (US$70.90)
