Bahrain: New Requirements for Changing Visit Visa to Work or Dependent Visa

Key Points

  • Bahrain will no longer allow individuals to convert their visit visa to a work visa or dependent residence visa without a sponsor

Overview

The government of Bahrain will no longer allow individuals to convert their visit visa to a work visa or dependent residence visa without a sponsor. The government also increased the fees for changing visit visas to work or dependency visas from BD60 to BD250 only if it will be for the same sponsor. These changes aim to promote local hiring and improve government oversight to prevent worker exploitation.
