Brazil: Updated Passport Design

Key Points  

  • Brazil began accepting applications for its new passport model on 22 September 2023  

Overview  

The government of Brazil will now allow Brazilian nationals located in Brazil to request a new passport at Federal Police service points located throughout the country. Brazilian nationals living abroad can request new passports at aboard network stations beginning in 2024. Passports issued in the model that will be discontinued will remain valid until the expiration date.   

What are the Changes?  

The government of Brazil began accepting passport application requests for its new passport type. The government will expand its service to accommodate out-of-country applicants beginning in January 2024.
