Canada: Post-Graduation Work Permit Application Changes
Key Points
- Canada updated its requirements for post-graduation work permit applications submitted on or after 1 November 2024
Overview
The government of Canada has updated the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) requirements for applications submitted on or after 1 November 2024. Key changes include:
- Graduates from bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree programs must now meet a minimum language proficiency of CLB 7 in English or NCLC 7 in French, with no specific field of study restrictions.
- Graduates from other university programs or colleges must meet language requirements (CLB 7 for university programs, CLB 5 for college programs) and graduate in an eligible field of study.
These changes apply to applicants submitting after 1 November 2024. However, those applying before that date must only meet the current eligibility criteria.
