Canada: Temporary Pause of the Parent and Grandparent Visa

  • Canada will pause the accept new permanent resident visa applications submitted under the Parent and Grandparent visa route  

Overview  

As of 1 January 2025, Canada will no longer accept new permanent resident visa applications under the Parent or grandparent sponsorship route. For 2025, unless a new intake is announced, Canada will only process permanent resident visa applications from parents or grandparents of sponsors and their related sponsorship applications if these were received in 2024 under the specified conditions.
