China: Acceptance of Digital APEC Business Travel Cards

  • China will now accept virtual APEC Business Travel Cards for eligible travelers seeking entry into the country 

Overview  

The government of China will accept virtual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Travel Card (ABTC) for ABTC holders with pre-clearance to China beginning 1 May 2023. At the same time, China continues to accept physical ABTCs from all participating APEC economies. 

Virtual ABTC holders are encouraged to confirm the status of their pre-clearance to China using the ABTC pre-clearance status tracker. 

What are the Changes?  

The government of China announced that travelers with valid digital APEC business cards are permitted to enter the country effective 1 May 2023.
