Key Points
- Denmark implemented a revised model for using income statistics in assessing work permit applications
Overview
As of 1 April 2023, the government of Denmark implemented a revised model for the use of income statistics in assessing work and residence permit applications.
This new model will include the “total monthly salary excluding nuisance compensation” as a benchmark and consider free-choice arrangements and holiday supplements. The government will also take regional salary differences into account and publish an income report with the International Standard Classification of Occupations (DISCO) code’s lower quartile.
Foreign employees seeking work and residence permits based on salaried work must meet the condition of having salary and employment terms that align with Danish standards under the DISCO.
