Overview
The European Commission (EU) added an additional extension to temporary protection measures for people fleeing from Ukraine. The extension will move the expiration date of these measures from 4 March 2024 to 3 March 2025.
What are the Changes?
The EU extended temporary protection measures for Ukrainian nationals until 3 March 2025. According to the announcement, this extension will provide support and certainty to more than four million people with protection across the EU. In addition, the objective is to alleviate pressure on national asylum systems and to allow displaced persons to enjoy harmonized rights across the EU. These rights include:
- Residence
- Access to the labor market and housing
- Medical assistance
- Social welfare assistance
- Access to education for children
