Finland: Online Application Options

  • Finland will no longer required certain foreign nationals visit a service point to provide proof of identity 

Overview  

The government of Finland has announced that foreign nationals are no longer required to visit a service point to provide proof of identity. Instead, foreign nationals can use the Enter Finland digital services. Applicants must have provided online banking credentials or another form of strong identification in Enter Finland when applying for: 

  • An extended permit; 
  • A new residence permit card; 
  • A new residence card or 
  • Finnish citizenship. 

Applicants applying for citizenship on behalf of their children will need to visit a service point to prove their identity.

What are the Changes? 

The government of Finland expanded online application services for foreign nationals using online banking services or forms of identification when applying for certain immigration permissions.
