Overview
The government of Germany is increasing efforts to integrate refugees into the labor market. The 2024 budget allocates 1.2 billion euros for orientation, integration courses and counseling. In addition, the government aims to simplify recognition procedures for refugees’ qualifications. New regulations, effective 27 February 2024, allow refugees in reception centers to start working after six months instead of nine, with more lenient work permit issuance.
