Ireland: Holiday Travel Reminders

Key Points

  • Ireland issued advice for work permit and visa filings submitted throughout the upcoming holiday season

Overview

The government of Ireland announced that the Immigration Services Registration Office in Burgh Quay, Dublin, is facing high volumes of renewal applications for IRP cards. Current processing times are 3-4 weeks. After processing, receiving the new card by post may take another two weeks. Travelers require an up-to-date IRP card to travel to and from Ireland.

Non-EEA nationals planning to travel over the Christmas period should submit renewal applications online by 31 October 2024 if their current permission expires before or during travel. Applications submitted after 31 October 2024 may not be processed in time for the holiday season. Please note that the renewal period will be based on the current expiry date, regardless of when the application is submitted.
