Ireland: Residence Permit Processing in Locations of Ireland

Key Points  

• Ireland will shift offices responsible for processing first-time registrations and renewals of Irish residence permissions in Meath, Kildare and Wicklow beginning 8 April 2024  

Office Change for the Processing of Irish Residence Permissions  

The Government of Ireland announced that responsibility for processing first-time registration and renewal of Irish immigration residence permissions in Meath, Kildare and Wicklow will shift from the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) to the Immigration Service Delivery (ISD) of the Department of Justice Beginning 8 April 2024. 

From that date, first-time resident registration in these counties will occur at the Registration Office, 13-14 Burgh Quay, Dublin 2, in addition to Dublin. Renewals for residents in Meath, Kildare, and Wicklow should be submitted online via the ISD online renewal portal at https://inisonline.jahs.ie starting April 8, 2024. Applicants won’t need to visit the Burgh Quay Registration Office in person. 

GNIB will continue to handle first registrations and renewals for applicants residing outside of Dublin, Meath, Kildare, and Wicklow. Applications for renewal of residence permission, including category changes, can be submitted to ISD and GNIB up to 12 weeks before expiry for timely processing.
