Israel: Israeli Nationals Traveling with Expired Passports
Key Points
- Israeli nationals with expired passports will be permitted to travel with a foreign passport document until 12 December 2023
Overview
On 24 April 2023, the government of Israel issued a statement on the renewal of expired passport document cards. As a result, Israeli nationals with expired passports will be permitted to travel with a foreign passport document until 12 December 2023, so long as the foreign-issued document remains valid.
The State of Israel will allow Israeli citizens with expired passports to enter Israel using that passport. This information must be verified with an airline, as airlines may choose not to allow boarding with an expired travel document.
What are the Changes?
The Israeli government will continue to allow Israeli nationals, who hold a valid passport issued in another country, to enter Israel on a temporary basis. These measures are being taken as a result of delayed passport processing and increased demand in travel.
