Italy: EU Blue Card Policy Changes

  • Italy will introduce new conditions of entry and residence for third-country nationals applying for an EU Blue Card by 18 November 2023 

Overview  

The government of Italy will introduce new conditions of entry and residence for third-country nationals applying for an EU Blue Card by 18 November 2023. These new conditions include the following: 

  • Applicants are required to hold at least two years of post-secondary education or a university-level degree; or  
  • Applicants must hold five years of professional experience in a relevant sector to the work being performed; or  
  • Applicants in manager or specialist roles must hold at least three years of professional experience in information and communication technologies acquired within the past seven years.  

Employers must ensure that the job offer is for a period of six months or more and that the salary is not lower than the national collective bargaining agreement in the country. For additional information, check here.  

What are the Changes?  

The Italian government will implement new measures to its EU Blue Card policy beginning in November 2023. These new measures include reducing the education requirements from three years to two, reducing previous work experience requirements and more.
