Japan Set to Increase Visa Application Fees

Key Points 

  • Japan will increase application fees for several immigration and visa-related categories beginning in April 2025  

Japan Increases Visa Filing Fees

Japan will increase visa application fees beginning 1 April 2025. As a result, the following fees will apply for online and in-person applications: 

  • Change of status or extension of stay: ¥5,500 (in-person) ¥6,000 (online) 
  • Permanent residency: ¥10,000 (both in-person and online) 
  • Multiple entry-visa: ¥7,000 (in-person) ¥6,500 (online) 
  • Certificate of authorized employment (CAE): ¥2,000 (in-person) ¥1,600 (online)
