The government of Japan introduced visa extension options for foreign nationals impacted by the recent earthquake. These measures include the following: 

  • The government will assist those who are unable to apply within their original stay period even if their status has now expired.  
  • Those who have been temporarily moved or evacuated can apply at the immigration office with jurisdiction over their current residence.
