Latvia Job Vacancy Requirements
Key Points
- Latvia updated its Job Vacancy requirements on 1 January 2025 for employers seeking to hire foreign national employees
New Amendments to Latvia’s Employment Regulations
Latvia introduced several changes to its employment regulations for foreign national employees, effective 1 January 2025. These changes include the following:
- Employers must now justify the number of vacant positions, evaluate candidates proposed by the State Employment Agency (NVA), and provide reasons for rejections.
- The NVA will issue decisions on foreign recruitment within 10 working days of a vacancy’s publication.
- Before submitting a job offer, employers must obtain an opinion from the State Employment Agency.
These changes aim to ensure fair candidate evaluation and prevent the misuse of Latvia’s immigration system.
