Malaysia: 2024 Quota Projections Process for Employers

Overview
The government of Malaysia will begin accepting 2024 work permit quota projections from companies on 15 December 2023. Employers registered with the Expatriate Services Division (ESD) will now be permitted to submit employment quota projections for the issuance and renewal of Employment Passes (EP) and Professional Visit Passes (PVP) for 2024.
Employers must justify hiring foreign nationals, along with any supporting documents. Additionally, employers should provide information on the number of local and foreign national employees employed in Malaysia.
What are the Changes?
The government of Malaysia opened quota projections for 2024 for employers registered with the ESD. According to the government, projections on EPs and PVPs from 2023 will not carry over into 2024.
