Malaysia: Digital Arrival Card Introduced

Key Points  

• Malaysia will require all foreign nationals to obtain a Malaysia Digital Arrival Card and expand other visa options  

Overview  

As of 1 December 2023, the government of Malaysia will require all foreign nationals to complete the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) prior to arrival in the country.  

In addition, the government introduced its visa liberalization plan, with the following measures going into effect: 

• 30-day visa-exempt travel for nationals of China and India. These measures will remain in effect until 31 December 2024.  
• 30-day multiple entry visa (MEV) for Singapore, Thailand and Brunei nationals.  
• Expand eligibility for the Long-Term Social Visit Pass, which grants a maximum period of stay of 12 months and multiple entries, to include nationals of 23 countries, such as the UK, the US, the UAE, and more.  
• Improving the validity and eligibility periods for visit visas and Social Visit Passes from a maximum period of stay of three months to six months.  
  • Expanding these passes to include nationals of 22 countries. 

What are the Changes?  

Effective 1 December 2023, the Immigration Department of Malaysia will require foreign nationals to complete the MDAC prior to their arrival in Malaysia.
