Key Points
- Malaysia will re-introduce iKad identification cards for Employment Passes (EP) on 24 October 2023
Overview
The government of Malaysia will re-introduce iKad identification cards for Employment Passes (EP) on 24 October 2023. IKad approval is issued during that initial application process by Malaysia’s Xpat Center.
Currently, the card will be issued to the following groups:
- Employment Pass (EP) Category I, II and III;
- Residence Pass-Talent (RP-T); and
- Dependents of the RP-T
What are the Changes?
The government of Malaysia re-introduced iKad requirements on 16 October 2023. Originally, iKad for EP holders was suspended on 17 July 2023. iKads are biometric ID cards that can be used by foreign nationals as an alternative ID to a passport.
