Mexico Streamlines Passport Applications
Key Points
- Mexico has simplified passport application requirements and modernized its system for greater efficiency
Updated Passport Measures in Mexico
Mexico will reduce the requirements for first-time adult passport applicants from six to three. This simplification also covers identity and travel documents and the legalization of public documents for use abroad.
Mexico also launched a new simplified passport system, modernizing procedures with assistance from the Digital Transformation Agency. Applicants no longer need to submit civil registry documents like birth, marriage, death, and adoption certificates unless the digital system cannot access the necessary records.
The agreement reduced requirements for first-time adult passport applicants, minors applying for the first time and passport renewals due to loss or theft, saving time and effort.
Applicants can schedule passport appointments on the official website, contact center or WhatsApp.
