New Zealand: Expanded Healthcare Visa Options

  • New Zealand expanded the visa categories intended for foreign nationals working in nursing and healthcare professionals 

Overview  

New Zealand’s government expanded visa options for nursing and healthcare professionals wishing to work there. Applicants must meet the requirements for nursing registration and the Competence Assessment Programme (CAP). Eligible visas include: 

  • Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) 
  • Occupational Registration Visitor Visa 
  • Specific Purpose Work Visa (for applicants from the Philippines) 

To work as a nurse in New Zealand, applicants must: 

  • Be registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ) 
  • Complete the Competence Assessment Programme (CAP), if required 
  • Meet Immigration New Zealand (INZ) visa requirements
