Active Investor Plus Visa Changes
Effective 1 April 2025, New Zealand will introduce several changes to its Active Investor Plus Visa, including two new investment categories: Growth and Balanced. Here are the key updates:
- Minimum Investment Amount: NZD$5 million for Growth category investors and NZD$10 million for Balanced category investors.
- Acceptable Investments for Balanced Category: Broadened to include bonds and property (new residential, new/existing commercial or industrial developments).
- Fewer Immigration Requirements: Migrants opting for more active investments will face fewer immigration requirements, such as reduced time to spend in New Zealand.
- Investment Timeline: Both categories must make all investments within 6 months of their approval in principle, with the option to apply for a six-month extension.
- English Language Requirement: The requirement has been removed.
According to the government, these changes will help attract high-value investments and simplify application requirements.
