New Zealand: Working Holiday Scheme with Spain
Key Points
- From 13 April 2023, New Zealand will raise the Working Holiday Scheme visa quota for Spanish citizens to 2,000, allowing them to work for a full year
Overview
Beginning 13 April 2023, the government of New Zealand will increase the annual Working Holiday Scheme (WHS) visa quota for Spanish nationals to 2,000 places. Spain WHS visa holders will also be permitted to work for a full 12-month duration on a visa.
The government will also introduce a six-month extension if the holder’s visa expires between 4 April 2023 and 30 September 2023. For further information on the application process, check here.
What are the Changes?
Previously only 200 slots were allocated to Spanish WHS visa holders and holders were only permitted to remain in the country for six months in total. According to the government announcement, these measures will help address current workforce shortages in the country.
