Norway: Restriction of Entrance for Russian Nationals

Key Points

  • Norway further restricts the entrance of Russian nationals beginning May 2024

Overview

The Norwegian government further restricted Russian nationals’ entrance in May 2024. Under the new rules, the police can deny entry to Russian citizens. Those traveling for tourism or other non-essential reasons will be turned away, even if they hold visas issued before the 2022 restrictions or by other Schengen countries.

Exceptions include visits to close family in Norway and for Russians working or studying in Norway or other Schengen countries. Norwegian authorities closely monitor the border at Storskog and will act as necessary.
