On 1 September 2024, the government of Oman temporarily suspended its issuance of work visas for foreign nationals in certain private-sector professions. The suspension will remain in place for six months.
Impacted professions include:
- Construction workers
- Bricklayers
- Cleaners
- Tailors
- Electricians
- Chef
- Waiters
- Painters
- Barbers
Foreign nationals working in these sectors with valid work visas can renew or transfer requests during this time.
