Key Points

  • Portugal will use an AI tool in the Portuguese citizenship application process

Overview

The government of Portugal will begin to use an artificial intelligence tool as part of the assessment process of Portuguese citizenship applications. Initially, representatives will need to make the online application in the first phase of the project. The Institute of Registration and Notary Affairs (IRN) will no longer require manual verification of documents since the AI tool will handle the authentication process.

What are the Changes?

The government of Portugal will introduce an AI tool as part of the assessment process for Portuguese citizenship applications. According to the government announcement, the tool will help to reduce processing time and eliminate the need for in-person visits.
