  • Romania introduced several changes to its EU Blue Card regulations on 8 March 2024 

Overview  

The government of Romania introduced several changes to its EU Blue Card regulations on 8 March 2024. These changes were made to better align the country’s blue card policy with the greater EU and include the following measures: 

  • The maximum period of stay for EU Blue Card permit holders is increasing to up to three years.  
  • Reducing the EU Blue Card requirement for some applicants so that they can qualify based on their work experience alone.  
  • Expanding eligibility for applicants, bringing family members to the country and starting a business.  
  • Expanding the overall length of work contracts.
