Singapore: Student Pass to Permanent Residency Permit
Key Points
- Singapore introduced new measures that will allow certain student pass holders to obtain a permanent residency permit
Overview
The government of Singapore announced that Student Pass holders can now apply for Singapore Permanent Residency if they have passed a national exam (e.g., PSLE, GCE ‘N’/‘O’/‘A’ levels) or are in the Integrated Programme, regardless of their length of study in Singapore. Previously, they needed to wait two years.
Additionally, male guardians (parents or grandparents) can now apply for a Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) to reside in Singapore and care for the student. Previously, only female guardians could apply. Only one guardian can accompany a Student Pass holder.
