South Africa: Extensions for Visa Waivers and Renewals

  • In response to processing backlogs, South Africa introduced extensions for waivers and visa renewal applications for all long-term visa categories 

Overview  

The government of South Africa introduced extensions for waivers and visa renewal applications for all long-term visa types as a result of processing backlogs. These measures will apply under the following circumstances: 

  • Long-term visa holders (Work, business, study, relative and accompanying spouse) who have previously submitted a visa waiver application that is still pending as of 31 March 2023, or a visa renewal application will be granted an extension of stay until 31 December 2023.  
  • Applicants who no longer wish to obtain a waiver application must undergo South African exit procedures and exit the country before 31 December 2023.  
  • Short-term visa holders whose visa validity was issued less than 90 days ago and that have not received a visa extension outcome as of 31 March 2023 are required to depart the country on or before 30 April 2023.

In response to processing backlogs, the South African government has introduced extensions for waivers and visa renewal applications for all long-term visa categories.
