South Africa: Termination of Zimbabwean Exemption Permits

  • South Africa will terminate the Zimbabwean Exemption Permit (ZEP) beginning 31 December 2023 

Overview  

The government of South Africa will terminate the Zimbabwean Exemption Permit (ZEP) beginning 31 December 2023. In addition, the government will not grant extensions beyond 31 December 2023. Nationals of Zimbabwe holding valid ZEPs will be permitted to enter and exit South Africa until 31 December 2023. 

What are the Changes? 

The government of South Africa announced the end of the ZEP. Previously, all ZEPs were expected to expire in June 2024.
