South Korea: Electronic Travel Authorization Expanded

• South Korea will temporarily expand travel exemptions to nationals of 22 regions beginning 1 April 2023 under the Korean Electronic Travel Authorization system 

Overview  

The government of South Korea will temporarily expand travel exemptions to nationals of 22 regions beginning 1 April 2023 under the Korean Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA) system. These measures will remain in place until 31 December 2024.  

The list of regions includes Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Macao, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, the United Kingdom and the United States (including Guam).  

K-ETA allows eligible foreign nationals to enter South Korea visa-free for a maximum period of 90 days or less, depending on the traveler’s nationality.

What are the Changes?  

Starting from 1 April 2023, South Korea will temporarily extend travel exemptions for citizens of 22 regions under the K-ETA system. This expansion will last until 31 December 2024.
