Sweden: Standard Industrial Classification Code Requirements

  • Sweden will now require work permit applicants to provide a Standard Industrial Classification code within their application  

Overview  

The government of Sweden introduced the requirement for Standard Industrial Classification (SNI) code to be included with all work permit applications as of 19 October 2023.  

Beginning in 2024, SNI codes will be one of the factors used by the government to determine which visa category to apply under.  

What are the Changes?  

The Swedish government introduced new requirements for the use of SNI codes for employers of foreign national workers. According to the announcement, this change reflects Sweden’s new work permit application process, which will go into effect in January 2024.
