Sweden: Stricter Permanent Residence Requirements Beginning in 2027

Overview  

The government of Sweden plans to introduce new language requirements and knowledge of Swedish society as a condition for being granted permanent residence permits. As part of these measures, the government will seek to create a digital test specifically designed for permanent residence status.

The Swedish government plans to introduce additional qualification measures as part of its permanent residence application process beginning in 2027.
