Switzerland: Digital Visa Issuance

Overview  

The government of Switzerland will introduce a new digital visa format beginning 1 February 2024 to ensure that its visa policies align with the European Union’s proposal to introduce a new digital Schengen visa. The digital visa format will include a barcode in addition to a paper visa sticker.  

What are the Changes? 

The Swiss government will revise its visa format to include a digital barcode. These measures align the country’s visa issuance process with the EU’s proposal to introduce a digital Schengen visa.
