Taiwan: Updated Entry Regulations for Travelers

• Taiwan updated its regulations for foreign nationals and nationals of Hong Kong and Macau based on the traveler’s immigration status  

Overview  

The authorities of Taiwan introduced new entry regulations for foreign nationals and Taiwanese residents of Hong Kong and Macau on 20 July 2023. Under these regulations, the following conditions apply: 

Nationals from countries and territories other than Hong Kong and Macau 

• Resident Certificate (ARC) Holders can enter Taiwan for all entry purposes. Foreign national workers must hold proof of a valid re-entry permit.  
• Non-ARC holders can enter Taiwan if they fall under a visa-exemption entry scheme.  

Residents of Hong Kong and Macau  

• Resident Certificate (ARC) Holders can enter Taiwan for all entry purposes. 
• Non-ARC holders must hold valid entry/exit permits or a temporary entry permit.
