The Netherlands: EU Blue Card Changes

Key Points  

  • The Netherlands adjusted its EU Blue Card policy to better align procedures with other countries throughout the European Union  

Overview  

The government of the Netherlands introduced changes to its EU Blue Card policy on 11 June 2024. These changes include the following: 

  • Reducing salary thresholds to the same amount as highly skilled workers aged 30 and up. Therefore, the threshold is EUR 5,331 gross per month, not including holiday allowances.  
  • Introducing new salary thresholds for recent graduates. The threshold is EUR 4,265 gross per month, not including holiday allowances.  

According to the announcement, these measures aim to attract foreign nationals better.
