The Netherlands: Visa Exemption Changes

  • The Netherlands introduced temporary measures to allow visa-exempt foreign nationals with expired or canceled residence permits to remain in the country 

Overview  

The government of the Netherlands introduced temporary measures to allow visa-exempt foreign nationals with expired or canceled residence permits to remain in the country for a maximum period of 90 days within a 180-day period. Previously, these individuals were required to exit the Schengen Area and then return for the 90-day rule to apply. This rule will enter into force on 15 February 2024.
