The United Kingdom: Fee Increases for ETA
Key Points
- The United Kingdom has announced several changes to immigration and nationality fees, aiming to reduce taxpayer reliance on funding the migration and borders system
Increased Fees for the Electronic Travel Authorisation System
The United Kingdom (UK) announced several changes regarding immigration and nationality fees. The changes are as follows:
- Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) fees will increase to £16
- Certificate of sponsorship fees will increase to £525
- Naturalization fees for British citizens will increase to £1,605
- Naturalization fees for British overseas territory citizens will increase to £1,070
The government also proposed measures that would exempt travelers from completing ETA if they are transiting through a British airport and will not be exiting through UK border control. This move will primarily affect Heathrow and Manchester airports, as the only UK airports which currently offer transit facilities. The exemption will be kept under review.
The above legislation is subject to approval by both Houses.
